We Pity The Kitties

On May 10, 2012 these two were the last kittens left at Lake County Animal Control. They had goopy eyes and were the bottom of the barrel during a special event that week at LCAC. As soon as I got close to their cage, Frak reached out is leg and tagged me. He saw the writing on the wall. He wanted to get hisself and his sister the hell out of there. Being overly sentimental, of course I was compelled to rescue them! At the time of adoption, they were 11 weeks old. They made peace with Lefty and Tufty, the 8 yr old cats we have indoors/outdoors and have been so much fun even when Frak is living up to his name. (Geek humor: On Battlestar Gallactica, instead of using "fuck" to cuss, they used "frack")

Tragedy Cat

I am mad and sad. I just got back from Animal Control, to deliver what is probably Phae's sibling. It will be killed in three days. At the request of my neighbors, I am trapping a few strays in our neighborhood due to their nighttime fighting. Eric and I have taken in 4 cats, and fixed 6 more ferals. Our one block neighborhood is maxxed out. I hate to do this, but if I am not to br a hypocrit, I will take the responsibility of at least giving them a humane death. I bitch and moan about all the dogs barking in the neighborhood. Well, just because a neighbor has too many dogs or is not home to deal with the animals, I still need to do my part if I truly care about the cats and my neighbors.

Chicago Jan. 2009 Trip with Helen

Our trip started out fine-we were on time, and had time to check out the toy robot/space exhibit @SFO. We boarded the plane on time, but got held on the runway for a couple hours. Ah, the Sierras We got in late, but Carmine was right at the baggage claim to meet us! Jean was circling, so she could pick us up. By the time we got in, there was just snow flurries. We stopped by Chili's and had a nosh. I must make a note about Jean & Carmine's car-it is a Cadillac with all the bells and whistles. I never had the pleasure of experiencing heated seats and boy was that nice! The next day we had a great breakfast and headed into Chicago to Carmine's office, which is where this picture was taken of Millennium Plaza from the 28th Floor. While Helen and Carmine talked about work, Jean & I went to check out the Chicago Cultural Center. We got there just as the docent tour was taking place. The guy even knew of Clearlake! It is an architectual marvel of craftmanship. This is th

Ruthie's Inn Memorial at NIMBY, Oakland

Ruthie's Inn Memorial Show at NIMBY, Oakland. Sept 23 2006 Who needs a high school renunion when an event like this happens! Old core bands and a funky wherehouse and about 2000 people is about all it takes. Some of these bands i haven't seen since i was my son's age! My buddy, Pierre, was the first person i ran into that i knew while waiting for the show to happen. It wasnt clear at first just where to enter. It was a gap between two fences...When we did, we had to sign waivers and no ins and outs. The show was delayed by a good hour and a half while they were still setting up the stage and moving various cargo around the wherehouse, in the midst of the early crowd. The bar was pushing "punk rock punch" - a rum vodka fruit drink out of a huge pot. They had a skateramp in the back along with a fire barrel and 3 portapotties. That's right, 3 portapotties for 2000 people. It was a good mix of young and olders. Too bad i pussied out at 3:30 am and didnt make it t
my one and only tattoo. I had it done June 25, 1990 to celebrate my son. At the time, I had a close friendship with a couple that also had rose tattoos. They helped me out a lot. Cheers Kimberly and Dan.
